Mr Fothergill's Seeds

End to end video production - lauch promo film

Service:

Project Overview

Mr. Fothergill's - one of Australia’s biggest names in the hobby gardening space. You’ve seen the tidy seed packets and you’ve wheeled past them in Bunnings aisle twenty-three. They’re trusted, long-established, and dedicated to helping even the most clueless green thumbs grow something worth bragging about.

For decades they’ve been doing the gardening thing better than anyone, but they’d never dipped a single root into video production. So when they decided to launch a new line of indoor hydroponic seed pods, they wanted content that would actually do it justice.

What We Did

We handled everything start to finish so the client could focus on the big picture (or, more accurately, the tiny seed pods). From storyboarding and scripting to casting three professional actors (including a faux couple who’d never met but somehow looked like they shared a mortgage), to securing a Pinterest-worthy home location, planning wardrobe and props, and wrangling a shoot schedule that actually ran on time.

Client quote of the day:

“There is so much STUFF you need to bring to a shoot!” Correct. And Heist brought it all - including the calm.

To avoid the tragic waste of shoot day boiling spaghetti on set, scrambling for bowls and colanders, and having to wash up, we advised the client to bring pre-cooked spaghetti, store it, and simply whip it out on set when it was time.

If you’ve never attempted a ‘bowl of steaming carbs’ hero shot under time pressure, trust us - this was the move.

The Challenge

  • The brief: create two short hero videos (plus a solid bank of B-roll) to fuel their website, socials, and internal use.
  • The reality: they’d never done a video shoot in their lives. No frame of reference and no idea where to start. A looming launch deadline. And, for reasons that will soon become clear... pasta.
  • They weren’t terrified, but they were aware they were about to fly blind, and needed a crew that could handle not just the shiny final deliverables but all the “wait… do we need to consider this?” questions too.

The day

  • 1 pinterest-perfect hired home
  • 2 Hero Promo Videos shot and banked
  • 3 professional talent giving us their best "effortlessly domestic" faces
  • 4 million tiny moving parts you didn't see
  • 0 meltdowns, misfires or missing props
  • 1 bowl of pasta (pre-cooked and ready for its close up)

Bonus win: we built enough buffer time into the day to squeeze in a whole extra product shoot request the client brought along if we had time - all within budget. No stress, no overtime, just good old-fashioned planning.

The (Non) Drama

Look, we love a juicy “things went off the rails but we heroically pulled it off” story as much as the next production nerd, but this isn’t that. There were no last-minute disasters and no timeline black hole. It was a smooth, well-oiled shoot run by a team that knows exactly how to hold the hand of a first-timer without making them feel like a lost toddler in a hardware store.

Rare in this industry of content production? Absolutely. Kind of our whole thing? Also yes.

Two polished hero videos, ready to roll with extra B-Roll and additional photos captured

Assets for instructional use plus a reusable blueprint for future launches

A client now equipped to handle shoots with way less “what’s a call sheet?” panic

A delicious bowl of pasta that really earned its moment in the sun

Heist guided us throughout the process, all on a very tight timeline.

We achieved amazing value with high-quality videos plus bonus instructional content.

I couldn’t recommend Heist Creative enough. Nikki goes out of her way to provide a fantastic experience.”
